“A Grandfather is someone with silver in his hair & gold in his heart.”

Grandparent’s Day was celebrated with great excitement & enthusiasm on 16th November 2010.The grandparents were welcomed in an Indian traditional style i.e. ‘Tilak’by two of our students in traditional dresses at the entrance, which was very much appreciated by the guests of the day.The principal in his address to the grandparents said that, "We owe a lot to our grandparents as it is because of them that our parents came in this world, for without them we wouldn’t have been here today”. Mrs. Mala. B. formally welcomed the guests & commented that ‘Grandparents are there to help the child get into mischief they haven’t thought of yet……That’s why we are blessed for having them.’

A  cultural programme was staged which started with a melodious song sung by the tiny tots of the primary section. A speech on the importance of grandparents was delivered by two students followed by a Hindi skit on being literate as –‘To learn is to change,To change is to develop & To develop is to succeed.’

A small programme was also hosted for the grandparents where they actively participated in the Needle & Thread Game & Antyakshari. The 1st & 2nd prize winners in the  Needle & Thread game was awarded by the Principal. The participants of Antakshari were given Cadburys . An appetizing refreshment, but to the taste of the elderly people was also relished by the guests. Capt.S.K.Shivankar & Mrs.S.Kashikar from the grandparents appreciated the way the programme was organized & blessed the children.Prize distribution of the Fancy Dress competition of the Children’s Day were given away by the hands of the eldest grandparents.

Viceprincipal Ms.V.S.Lakshmi addressed the guests & stressed that –‘Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do.They are sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children.’The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mrs.S.Makan.

The whole programme was a grand success as the grandparents enjoyed wholeheartedly & went happily for being honoured before their grand children.

“It’s such a grand thing to be the mother of mother, that’s why the world calls her Grandmother.”
